Lonely Saturday

Wasn’t too bad. I completely moved my room around twice. The layout at the end of the day is nice, but I still need to finish placing some small items in the room.

The coolest thing about today was getting my new chair. If Peter will let me, I’d like to say that it “totally reeks of awesomeness”. I’ll update this if I can find a pic of my chair.

I can sort of sense that right now is the calm before the storm. It’s currently an hour before Sept 1 starts. I’m pretty sure I’m getting all new renters in the apartments next to us. That could be cool, although right now their are some loud people out on the balconies. Not sure if they are having a moving out party, moving in party, or a not moving at all party. Also, I know that the next 3 weeks at work will be very busy, getting ready for the staff to come back for fall training and then the students returning to the dorms. But busy means lots of hours, and hours means big paycheck.

Absolutely boring…

As this will probably be my last post from the month of August, I thought I’d sum up what is ahead in the month of September. In order of boring randomness:

  • My Junior year of college will be starting. I sound really old.
  • I will be living in a house. With no parents. Or more importantly no RA’s.*
  • As I said earlier, I will be listening to more music. This is already starting to pay off. As I’m typing this a Green Day song, then a NOFX song pass through my playlist. <span lang=”geek speak”>All my music is mounted over my lan through NFS. This way I don’t have to store the songs on my desktop, they are all on a (hopefully stable) server. Also, I will be sharing this “backup copy” of my music with my roommates through a samba share. We will most likely also be sharing copies of movies too.</span> Also, I’m able to listen to most of my music at work thanks to our new 60 gig mp3 server.
  • I will be using more <ul> and <li> tags in my entries, much like this one

<note to=”self”>STOP USING FAKE HTML TAGS TO BE FUNNY.</note>

* Except for my Girlfriend, she’ll be an RA next year.**

** She doesn’t actually live at the house, but I imagine she’ll be spending a lot of time here.

I can’t resist

I’ve been reading a lot of mozilla blogs lately. They are interesting and keep me up to date on what’s new in the world of mozilla. Well, at least it’s better than constantly refreshing the latest checkins page. Did I say constantly? I meant obsessively.

So the point of this entry is that I will not be linking to any pictures of Kate Bosworth naked. I admit, she is hot. And she did star in that movie Blue Crush. But if I linked to any of their blog entries on the subject of Kate Bosworth, that would just give them higher google ratings in this naked contest. naked. not naked. google this.

Long time, no Mike blog much

It’s August. My summer has flown by. I never update this. On a plus side, my allergies don’t bother me much anymore. Having said that, I must now find my nose spray that keeps me breathing easy.

Belchinwaffles.com is coming along. This is good. It brings together us friends that don’t always see each other. It also makes me happy to see my pet project from long ago coming back to life.

Also, it’s bringing me back to music. In many ways I sort of lost interest in most things musical after high school ended. I stopped playing musical instruments (bass guitar, bass clarinet, some thing else dorky). I forgot about most of my CD collection and just listened to radio or something else bad. I’m now reorganizing my CD’s and I’ve even bought* a few new CD’s. (the term bought should be used loosely. I was merely cashing in gift certificates before they expire.)

Just to prove that I’m technologically hip, I’m recording all the CD’s that I really like in my collection into Ogg Vorbis format. It sounds good, and saves hard drive space, so why not?

Oh yeah, and to flex my geeky muscles, I just put back in my second CPU in my Dual processor system, and so far things have been running smoothly.

I’ll leave you with a list of sites or things that I have enjoyed on the web recently:

Later. Hopefully I’ll update this before school starts in late September.
