Long time, no Mike blog much
It’s August. My summer has flown by. I never update this. On a plus side, my allergies don’t bother me much anymore. Having said that, I must now find my nose spray that keeps me breathing easy.
Belchinwaffles.com is coming along. This is good. It brings together us friends that don’t always see each other. It also makes me happy to see my pet project from long ago coming back to life.
Also, it’s bringing me back to music. In many ways I sort of lost interest in most things musical after high school ended. I stopped playing musical instruments (bass guitar, bass clarinet, some thing else dorky). I forgot about most of my CD collection and just listened to radio or something else bad. I’m now reorganizing my CD’s and I’ve even bought* a few new CD’s. (the term bought should be used loosely. I was merely cashing in gift certificates before they expire.)
Just to prove that I’m technologically hip, I’m recording all the CD’s that I really like in my collection into Ogg Vorbis format. It sounds good, and saves hard drive space, so why not?
Oh yeah, and to flex my geeky muscles, I just put back in my second CPU in my Dual processor system, and so far things have been running smoothly.
I’ll leave you with a list of sites or things that I have enjoyed on the web recently:
- http://www.bornbackwards.com/news/: A hilliarious site that rattles off news about all types of music, and manages to diss on every single genre of music. This guy must listen to static all day. This is also where I found the infamous picture of eminiem. But seriously, I ended up spending a few hours reading the whole listing, including the second page of older news. It’s funny. Worth a peek.
- http://pealco.net/archives/000250.htm: Mozilla Better Than IE. This is a good summary of why Mozilla’s feature make it kick ass. I would recommend this page if you are trying to convince yourself or some you know to switch to Mozilla. Please, switch to Mozilla.
- http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/index.html: Speaking of Mozilla, at work on friday I discovered mouse gestures. This lovely invention makes browsing slightly easier, but has a learning curve. Example: hold down middle mouse button and draw an S will view the source of the current page.
- http://www.bornbackwards.com/news/midtownscandal.txt: After reading Conor’s interview with Midtown, I decided to find out what was up with the Drive-Thru Records/Midtown fued. I stumbled upon what I was looking for. Here’s Drive-Thru’s response, and Midtown’s manager’s response.
- http://www.the5k.org/description.asp/entry_id=1024: A teeny little flash game that’s similar to lemmings. Really addictive, luckily only 4 levels, so you beat it pretty quick and only waste about 20 mins of time.
Later. Hopefully I’ll update this before school starts in late September.
