Another quarter

First day of classes today. I am taking an introduction to the Internet. We will learn basic HTML and will be forced to use Frontpage. I am going to kill myself. The only reason I’m taking the class is for the Communication general requirement. It’s either this or give speeches once a week.

Now that everyone has moved back in things are really moving around here. I was planning on not drinking at all this quarter. That plan has already been changed to only drinking on weekends, and hopefully only at “events” or actual parties or something. It’s been 1 day of classes, and my next 2 weekends are booked solid. Friday I’m going to a “gentlemens club” in Canada, and Saturday I’m going to an 80′s party around here. Next weekend I will be spending 2 nights in Canada, partying in Vancouver again. A few people are coming up from Redmond to hang out the days before and after that. Should be great fun.

In the world of computer news, Apple today released what had been dubbed iBrowser, Safari. Unfortunately it is based off the Konqueror HTML rendering engine. While that’s not entirely bad, I was hoping they would go with gecko, the mozilla html rendering engine. After trying it out at work a little today I was impressed with it’s speed and look and feel. The coolest feature is the progress bar displaying behind the address bar as pages load. Unfortunately there is no interface to accept custom SSL certificates like we use at work.

Recently I have been putting my entire schedule into evolution‘s calendar. It is compatible with the ical standard so I can export out to iCal on the mac, or upload it to my website and show off my schedule: http://calendar.mikejestes.com/.
