Recieved this email today from my favorite independent record company:

Hey kids, it’s that time again! We hope you get a chance to get out and see the 2003 Fat Tour, there’s been lots of good times on that thing so far. Stolen cars, broken hearts, etc. We have lots of news for you and Fat Mike even wrote a nice long essay for all y’all:

15 Americans, one Mexican, and two Eskimos hijack 4 Iraqi jetliners and fly them into a Baghdad skyscraper. Two years later, Baghdad retaliates by sending 200,000 Iraqi troops to Canada. Canada is pulverized by thousands of bombs, and tens of thousands of Canadian civilians are killed. Iraq expects no retaliation from the United States or its allies.

Sound familiar? Sound ridiculous? I read a poll on AOL last night about the connection between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. Apparently 65% of Americans believe that there is a link. Sure, why shouldn’t most people believe that? The president says there’s a link. The TV news says there’s a link. People who drive pick up trucks say there’s a link. There must be one. Okay, lets start over. Now, we can all agree on a couple things. Saddam is a monstrous dictator who murders his own people. This is a fact. Al-Qaida is a monstrous group of fundamentalist religious freaks that murder innocent people. This is also a fact.

Here’s a couple of facts that no one seems to mention: none of the September 11th hijackers were Iraqi. Al-Qaeda hates Saddam, and Saddam hates Al-Qaeda. Iraq fought religious fundamentalists in Iran for 8 years and he used chemical weapons against his own people who were fundamentalists. Al-Qaeda considers Saddam Hussein to be the devil. These people fucking hate each other, and there has never been a single known meeting between them. Still, 65% of Americans believe there is a link. Well I believe there is a link between Americans and reality, but evidently that link was severed a couple years ago. Even the CIA and FBI say there’s no link between Al Qaeda and Iraq; and the New York Times reported on it here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/02/international/middleeast/02INTE.html

I’m sorry to go on about this, but I read this shit and I can’t fucking sleep at night. How did this country I live in turn into a fucking idiot factory? Why do all these people have opinions on matters they know nothing about? It’s really getting embarrassing. If you?re bothered by these things too and want to know more, I suggest reading a book called The War on Iraq by William Pitt and Scott Ritter (one of the UN inspectors). It’s only about 60 pages and it’s super informative and good. Whether you think we should go to war or not you should at least inform yourself with the facts. Those darn facts keep getting in the way of US foreign policy. Darn facts.

not sleeping,

fat mike
