Hiking

A few friends and I have started a tradition of going on Adventures every Saturday afternoon. The requirement is that it takes just a few hours, is fun, probably outdoors, and not too hard. Past Adventures include jumping off Whatcom Falls and stomping down the creek, hiking to Teddybear “accidental nude beach” Cove, and something else that I’m forgetting.

This weekend we were a little adventurous and went on a nice hike up by Mt. Baker called Skyline Divide.

Half the fun was driving 12 miles up a “one lane” Forest Service road. That took about 45 minutes, each way. After hiking uphill for about an hour and a half you finally get to sit down and eat your sub sandwitch. There were unconfirmed reports that I was complaining and “being difficult.” Don’t make me exert energy if I’m at all hungry.

At the top you can follow a ridge for quite a ways towards Baker. We continued for about a mile, but speculated that you could probably just walk right to the top if you kept going.
